Privacy policy
YomTrace is a traceability platform run by YomYom Services Limited, Tamale and Accra, Ghana. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Farmers: name, gender, phone number, community, women's group, farm size and, if you agree, your farm's GPS location. We also record what you deliver, its weight and quality, and what we pay you.
- Warehouse partners: name, phone, email, warehouse location and size, the MoU, stock stored and payments made to you.
- Buyers and staff: name, company, phone, email, country and your orders.
- Technical data: a sign-in cookie, and basic server logs (IP address, browser) kept for security.
Why we use it
- To weigh, store, buy and sell produce, and to pay farmers and warehouse partners.
- To show buyers where their produce comes from. This is the purpose of YomTrace.
- To send SMS receipts and payment notices.
- To keep a tamper-evident record so nobody can quietly change weights or payments.
- To report our impact (total farmers, share of women, amounts paid), always as totals.
What buyers and the public can see
Trace pages show a farmer's first name and initial (or no name, if the farmer chooses), their community and district, their group, what they delivered and, where enabled, the price per kilo they were paid. We never show farmers' phone numbers, ID numbers or exact farm locations. Farmers choose how their name appears when they register, and can change it at any time through their hub.
Consent
Our field agents explain this policy to every farmer in a language they understand before registering them, and record their consent. Location is only collected with consent.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run YomTrace (hosting, SMS, mobile money), under confidentiality, when the law requires it, or as part of a merger or sale of the business.
How long we keep it
Trade and payment records are kept for as long as Ghanaian law requires for accounting and audits. Because the record of each step is chained for integrity, we hide personal details instead of deleting history: a farmer who leaves can ask us to remove their name and phone number from the platform.
Your rights
Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) you can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or object to its use. Contact us below.
Security
Accounts use phone and PIN with lock-out after repeated wrong PINs, connections are encrypted, the database is not reachable from the web, and every important action is fingerprinted and chained so changes are detected.
Children
YomTrace is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly register children as farmers or users.
